Horror ideas For Our Opening Sequence Characters

Characters

We needed a killer in our horror opening sequence but what would be look like, what would his build be, how old should he be, what is his problem, where is he from, how does he kill people? Etc.
Theses where the questions we needed to answer but how if we don’t have a starting point so we started by collecting images of killers in horror movies, we put them in different categories of sub-genre (some are cross overs as well):
Action Horror

Body Horror

Comedy Horror

 Gothic Horror

Psychological Horror

Science Fiction Horror

Slasher Horror

Zombie Horror
Teen Horror

Advance Horror

By doing this we could decide what type of character our killer and our victim could be like. We had decided to do a slasher with Psychological elements involved.
we liked the character jack out of the film The Shining as he gets cabin fever from living in a hotel with nothing really to do but to write his book but he ends up nearly killing his family, the reason why we liked him was because there was nothing wrong with the hotel but with his mind this shows how the simplest things can turn people crazy. The character in our film will have psychological problems as well, as the killer in our film has not really ventured outside of this farm where he was brought up, all he wants is someone to love him as his parents left him from the age of 15, so he has always been alone so all he wants is some female company as a wife. The slasher part of this film is that he knows how to kill animals as he has been brought up on a farm and the way he kills is with his personal set of knifes that he has.

I notice whilst doing this research that comedy horror films are nearly always about zombies, the reason why I think is that you can take the mick out of zombie films as sometimes people think of horror films as a joke. I also noticed that most of these films are rated 15 as teen ages want to watch more horror movies whilst growing up, also the reason why more teens watch horror is because they are now old enough to watch that type of film or they have had enough of the same old action film that comes out every year. I like the fact that the new generation of films have strong female characters and they last till the end of the film.

Film Distribution

 Film Distribution

A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for the marketing of a film. The distributor may set the release date of a film and the method by which a film is to be exhibited or made available for viewing: for example, directly to the public either theatrically or for home viewing e.g.DVD, video-on-demand, download, television programs through broadcast syndication etc.. A distributor may do this directly, if the distributor owns the theaters or film distribution networks, or through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors. A limited distributor may deal only with particular products, such as DVDs or Blu-ray, or may act in a particular country or market.

Shop Distribter e.g. Blockbusters

Some distributors only handle home video distribution or some sub-set of home video distribution such as DVD and/or Blu-ray distribution. The remaining home video rights may be licensed by the producer to other distributors or the distributor may sub-license them to other distributors.
If a distributor is going to distribute a movie on a physical format such as DVD, they must arrange for the creation of the artwork for the case and the face of the DVD and arrange with a DVD replicator to create a glass master to press quantities of the DVD.

Today some movie producers are using a process called "DVD-on-demand." In DVD-on-demand, a company will burn a DVD-R (a process called "duplication") when a copy of the DVD is ordered, and then ship in to the customer.

A distributor may also maintain contact with wholesalers who sell and ship DVDs to retail outlets as well as online stores, and arrange for them to carry the DVD. The distributor may also place ads in magazines and online and send copies of the DVD to reviewers

Production Companies

Production Companies

A production company provides the physical basis for works in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video.

The Functions of Production Companies

The production company may be directly responsible for funding the production. It handles budgeting, scheduling, scripting, the supply with talent and resources, the organisation of staff, the production itself, post-production, distribution, and marketing. Production companies are often either owned or under contract with a media conglomerate, film studio, entertainment company, or Motion Picture Company, who act as the production company's partner or parent company. This has become known as the "studio system". They can also be mainstream independent like Lucasfilms or completely independent like Lionsgate. In the case of TV, a TV production company would serve under a television network. Production companies can work together in co-productions.

Types of Production Compaines

Entertainment companies operate as mini conglomerates, operating many divisions or subsidiaries in many different industries. Warner Brothers Entertainment and Lionsgate Entertainment are two companies with this corporate structure. It allows for a single company to maintain control over seemingly unrelated companies that fall within the ranges of entertainment, which increases and centralises the revenue into one company which means if you have; a film production company, TV production company, video game company, and comic book company are all owned by a single entertainment company. A motion picture company, such as Paramount Pictures, specializing "only" in motion pictures is only connected with its other counterpart industries through its parent company. Instead of performing a corporate reorganisation, many motion picture companies often have sister companies they collaborate with in other industries that are subsidiaries owned by their parent company and is often not involved in the making of products that are not motion picture related. A production company can either operate under a contract or as a subsidiary for an entertainment company, motion picture company, television network, or all, and are generally smaller than the company they are partnered with.

Production

A production company is responsible for the development and filming of a specific production or media broadcast. In entertainment, the production process begins with the development of a specific project. Once a final script has been produced by the screenwriters, the production enters into the pre-production phase, most productions never reach this phase for financing or talent reasons. In pre-production, the actors are signed on and prepared for their roles, crew is signed on, shooting locations are found, sets are built or acquired, and the proper shooting permits are acquired for on location shooting. Actors and crew are hand picked by the producer, director, and casting director, who often use collaborators or referenced personnel to prevent untrusted or unwelcomed people from gaining access to a specific production and compromising the entire production through leaks. Once a production enters into principal photography, it begins filming. Most productions are never cancelled once they reach this phase.
Codenames are often used on bigger productions during filming to conceal the production's shooting locations for both privacy and safety reasons. In many cases, the director, producers, and the leading actors are often the only people with access to a full or majority of a single script. Supporting actors, background actors, and crew often never receive a full copy of a specific script to prevent leaks. Productions are often shot in secured studios, with limited to no public access, but they are also shot on location on secured sets or locations. Due to the exposure, when shooting in public locations, major productions often employ security to ensure the protection of the talent and crew working on a specific production. After filming is completed, the production enters into post production, which is handled by a post production company and overseen by the production company. The editing, musical score, visual effects, re-recording of the dialog, and sound effects are "mixed" to create the final film, which is then screened at the final screening. Marketing is also launched during this phase, such as the release of trailers and posters. Once a final film has been approved, the film is taken over by the distributors, who then release the film.
