Horror ideas For Our Opening Sequence Characters

Characters

We needed a killer in our horror opening sequence but what would be look like, what would his build be, how old should he be, what is his problem, where is he from, how does he kill people? Etc.
Theses where the questions we needed to answer but how if we don’t have a starting point so we started by collecting images of killers in horror movies, we put them in different categories of sub-genre (some are cross overs as well):
Action Horror

Body Horror

Comedy Horror

 Gothic Horror

Psychological Horror

Science Fiction Horror

Slasher Horror

Zombie Horror
Teen Horror

Advance Horror

By doing this we could decide what type of character our killer and our victim could be like. We had decided to do a slasher with Psychological elements involved.
we liked the character jack out of the film The Shining as he gets cabin fever from living in a hotel with nothing really to do but to write his book but he ends up nearly killing his family, the reason why we liked him was because there was nothing wrong with the hotel but with his mind this shows how the simplest things can turn people crazy. The character in our film will have psychological problems as well, as the killer in our film has not really ventured outside of this farm where he was brought up, all he wants is someone to love him as his parents left him from the age of 15, so he has always been alone so all he wants is some female company as a wife. The slasher part of this film is that he knows how to kill animals as he has been brought up on a farm and the way he kills is with his personal set of knifes that he has.

I notice whilst doing this research that comedy horror films are nearly always about zombies, the reason why I think is that you can take the mick out of zombie films as sometimes people think of horror films as a joke. I also noticed that most of these films are rated 15 as teen ages want to watch more horror movies whilst growing up, also the reason why more teens watch horror is because they are now old enough to watch that type of film or they have had enough of the same old action film that comes out every year. I like the fact that the new generation of films have strong female characters and they last till the end of the film.
